Fish farms with a higher degree of recirculation or RAS plants (Recirculated Aquaculture System) are fish farms where a number of technologies have been implemented and where water consumption is reduced. Water intake is most often achieved by pumping in groundwater, drainage water or surface water. These plants have previously been called model 1 and model 3 fish farms.
