To pump the water around in recirculated fish farms, an aerator is used
This type of pump is extremely effective when there is a need to move large amounts of water with relatively low lifting height.
The aerator has two functions: Circulation of the water in the tank and oxidization of the water. The effect from the aerator, become because as a well is split in the middle by a dividing plate. On the one side of the dividing plate an air distributor hose is mounted for injection of atmospheric air.
The injection is accomplished by standing rotary blowers. The pumping effect comes when the water level on the air/water side is higher than on the water side. This difference in height means, that the water is driven forward in the system, by gravity.
